What is Obsidian Stone?

Obsidian is a gemstone (formerly known as "semi-precious stone"), it is a volcanic glassy rock. In jewelry, only its black variety is used for its brilliance and intensity once cut. It gives an elegant style and is easy to wear. Its hardness ranges between 5 and 5.5 on the Mohs scale.
