What is a Coral Stone?
Coral is an organic stone, red coral is rare and highly appreciated in jewelry since ancient times for its blood-red color and symbolism. In Greco-Roman mythology, coral is believed to be the petrified blood of the Gorgon whose head Perseus cut off and threw into the sea. It is therefore attributed with many virtues and magical powers. It has a hardness of 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale.
