What is Chalcedony?
Chalcedony is a gemstone (formerly known as a semi-precious stone). Chalcedony is a mineral or rock composed of quartz crystallites. Its name derives from the city of Chalcedon in Asia Minor. It comes in a wide range of pastel colors but can also be dyed to achieve brighter and more uniform colors. It has a matte to silky luster. Chalcedony is durable and ideal for jewelry making.
