What is a Cat's Eye Stone?
Cat's Eye is a gemstone (formerly known as a "semi-precious stone"). It was first described by the German geologist and mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1790. It is named after the luminous line that appears on its surface, resembling the vertical pupil of a cat's eye. This phenomenon called "chatoyancy" is due to the reflection of light on the mineral. At France Perles, we offer Cat's Eye tourmaline. It has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.
Too Many Beads?
If you only want to create jewelry prototypes and need samples, or if you find that our beads on strands are too numerous for your needs, we recommend you take a look at our individual stones. Classified by shapes, they will allow you to create prototypes as well as unique gifts to offer, such as men's bracelets and/or women's necklaces.
