What is a Ruby-Zoisite Stone?
Ruby-Zoisite is a fine stone (formerly known as "semi-precious stone"). Also known as Anyolite, it is a combination of pink, raspberry, and light green. The pink, raspberry, or sometimes red color is from the ruby, while the light green, sometimes including black, comes from Zoisite (a gemstone family that includes Tanzanite). Ruby-Zoisite can only form in deposits capable of producing both stones. That's why it is only found in Tanzania where it was discovered in 1954. This opaque gem is cut into cabochons to highlight all its colors. It has a hardness of 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.
