History of Tsavorite
The name "Tsavorite" is given in reference to the place where it was discovered, in the Tsavo National Park region of Kenya, by Henry Platt, president of Tiffany & Co.
Little is known about this magnificent green Tsavorite stone, which was discovered in 1967 by English geologist Campbell Bridges while working in Tanzania.
Since then, this fine, bright-green stone has grown in popularity and become a highly sought-after gemstone for jewelry.

Origin and composition of Tsavorite
Tsavorite is a member of the garnet family, which belongs to the silicate family. Tsavorite stone is mainly composed of aluminum-calcium silicate, with the chemical formula Ca3Al2(SiO4)3. It has a density of around 3.42 to 3.72.
Tsavorite stone generally forms in subduction zones, in intraplate magmas due to high temperature and pressure and/or in alluvial deposits.
Its color is mainly due to inclusions of vanadium, chromium and iron.
Origin of Tsavorite
The main deposits of Tsavorite are found in Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar and Canada.
Tsavorite has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale.
