Strawberry Quartz: History, Origin, Composition, Virtues, Meaning and Recharging of the stone
Strawberry Quartz is a natural stone belonging to the Quartz family. This stone remains fascinating despite its small documentation, due to its recent discovery. Its color is close to that of its sister, Rose Quartz, making it a more unique alternative natural stone, thanks to its more vibrant inclusions within the translucent pink stone. Strawberry Quartz is a natural stone much appreciated in lithotherapy for its soothing virtues and its beauty in the world of jewelry.
History of Strawberry Quartz
Strawberry Quartz owes its name to its strawberry-like appearance, with inclusions reminiscent of strawberry seeds. The mineral comes from the English name "strawberry quartz", which originated in South Africa for commercial purposes, as the stone does not yet have a certified name.
Unfortunately, very little is known about the history of Strawberry Quartz. It is assumed that the natural stone was first found in Mexico. Subsequently, Strawberry Quartz went on sale in the 1970s. However, there is no evidence to support these claims.
Origin and composition of Strawberry Quartz
Strawberry Quartz is one variety in the large Quartz family. This natural stone is mainly composed of silicon dioxide with the chemical formula SiO2. Inclusions of iron oxide, titanium and manganese give it its grainy appearance. Other inclusions, such as hematite and lepidocrocite, can also be found. Quartz Fraise has a specific gravity of around 2.67.
Strawberry Quartz forms mainly in veins, rock cavities and/or hydrothermal veins. These environments are conducive to quartz crystallization and generally rich in silica. Mineral inclusions give the stone its pinkish color and small grains.
Origin of Strawberry Quartz
Strawberry Quartz can be found and mined in Russia, Brazil, South Africa and Kazakhstan.
The hardness of Strawberry Quartz is 7 on the Mohs scale.
