Hypersthene: History, Origin, Composition, Virtues, Meaning and Recharging of the stone
Hypersthene is a stone from the Pyroxene family. It is particularly appreciated for its virtues in lithotherapy, but not only; it is also used and loved in the world of jewelry. Its sober color can be worn by everyone. It's also known as "velvety labradorite", as it can be found in the same deposits as Labradorite.
History of Hyperstene
The etymology of the word Hypersthene comes from the Greek, "hyper" meaning "more" and "sthenos" meaning "strength" or "power".
A mineralogist by the name of Abraham Gottlob Werner was the first to discover Hypersthene, and named it "paulite". Years later, another mineralogist, Abbé René Just Haüy, discovered the first deposits of the stone, called "labradorite hornblende" at the time. In his book "Traité de Minéralogie", he contradicted Werner's studies and demonstrated that this was indeed a new species of stone, which he later named L'Hypersthène. Amerindians link this stone to the legend of Thunderbird, a mythical bird.
