History of Falcon's Eye
Falcon's Eye (Hawk's Eye) gets its name in the same way as all the others (cat's eye, tiger's eye, bull's eye...), from its appearance resembling the eye of a hawk.
The hawk's eye represents a guardian angel, the all-seeing one, and its meaning changes and evolves according to civilizations. Among the Celts, this stone was used and worn as a talisman to enable the wearer to gradually evolve in his or her life.
Among the Egyptians, the Falcon's Eye stone is linked to the legendary Egyptian god, Horus, the god of the sky, and more specifically to his Eye, which holds a powerful protective power.

Origin and composition of Falcon's Eye
Falcon's Eye (Hawk's Eye) belongs to the Quartzite family, and is mainly composed of silicon dioxide with the chemical formula SiO2. The stone may also contain mineral inclusions such as limonite, crocidolite and/or göthite. The density of Hawkeye varies between 2.64 and 2.71.
Falcon's eye forms in magmatic and metamorphic rocks rich in quartz and silica. These quartz crystals form in silica-rich hydrothermal fluids and/or magma pockets, and are transformed into a crystalline structure by pressure and temperature. Mineral inclusions (crocidolite, limonite) are then added to the pressure and temperature, creating a blue-gray color with brown bands that form the Falcon's Eye.
Falcon's eye is the base stone for tiger's eye and bull's eye, both made from the same stone heated to different temperatures. Tiger's eye requires a temperature of around 400-500°C, while bull's eye requires about 120°C more than tiger's eye, i.e. around 500-600°C.
