History of Bronzite
The natural stone Bronzite formerly known as Enstatite, is a stone that takes its name from the Greek "enstates", meaning "adversary". Its current name derives from its bronze-like color. The Romans used Bronzite as a talisman, believing in its therapeutic and protective properties. Notably for confusion and physical ailments.
It was in 1806 that the name Bronzite was adopted and applied by the IMA.

Origin and composition of Bronzite stone
The stone Bronzite belongs to the pyroxene family and is classified as a silicate. Its unique composition contains high levels of magnesium and iron silicate, giving it the scientific name of Altered Enlastite. Bronzite is composed of iron and magnesium (Mg,Fe)2Si2O6. It has a specific gravity of 3.3.
Bronzite comes from magnesium-rich igneous rocks. It contains around 12 to 30% iron oxide, which, depending on weather conditions, can give it a golden appearance.

The main deposits of Bronzite are located in Austria, Brazil, Madagascar, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Burma. Bronzite stone has a hardness ranging from 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale.
